So long, Christmas '07!

To borrow from FitzSmith's blog format, if I may...

Dear Christmas 2007,

Although I got some rather lovely things from very kind and generous people (whom I thank very, very much), I am glad to see you go. I am happy that your passing means that this year is almost over because frankly, I can't take another year like the last three and I've got a good feeling about 2008! In fact, I'm going to make it a good year or perhaps die trying. After all, the last one nearly did me in (literally).

Yes Xmas '07, I'm genuinely proud of having done some of the things I said I'd do this year and am highly motivated to finish off that list. One smart thing I did that I hadn't expected was to move and along with the mountain of useless possessions I liberated/donated, with them went my desire to spend any more of my life trying to fit ten days worth of work and life into one. I have three words for that kind of living, my friend... FUCK THAT SHIT! This year is about balance!

Sure, you didn't deliver things I could use in a big way, like a lucrative career that I love, a new hybrid Escape, a reasonable experience with the EDD, a romance that I can both believe and not destroy or Adobe Web Premiere (not that I was expecting you to come through on any of those counts, really). That's okay, Christmas. Thanks for bringing me some of the things I hoped to get and didn't think I would. That was pretty great. But more importantly thanks for bringing me something I needed... a fresh start. How'd you know that was at the top of my list?

Cheers,
Sunny
